Skincare Application 101

Skincare Application 101 When it comes to skincare, buying the right products is only half of the battle. Learning how to apply the products is just as important. Every consult at AIYANA includes information about skincare because we believe the best anti-aging regimen starts with skincare. When we talk about our favorite products, ALASTIN and iS CLINICAL are the best skincare products on the market. There are many reasons for this, but to hear more about the details visit our Skin Carepage. Now let’s get into the skincare application details. Skincare Application Cleanser When you are applying your skincare, it is important to do so in a certain order. This order is always laid out thinnest to thickest, after cleanser. The cleanser is the first product you will use on your skin to help rid it of any impurities. The cleanser is important to help with clearing out the skin and pores. It will remove all makeup and any environmental factors that are out there. The best cleanser is the ALASTIN Gentle Cleanser. It is gentle and foaming. It also removes eye makeup. Toner/Serums When you apply your products, start with the product that is the thinnest when you look at it on your hands. Examples include serums and toners. They are as thin as water and should be applied immediately after your cleanser. This insures maximum absorption and gives the product the ability to create results the way it was intended. When you apply serums, ensure that you do not place the dropper on your skin as this may cause bacterial contamination to your product. Instead, drop the serum on your fingertips and apply from there. This also saves a lot of products in the long run. The best serum is our iS CLINICAL Serums. They are formulated for many different skin types and customized for each patients needs. Schedule a complementary skincare consult or check out our online store to purchase. Anti-aging Creams/Eye Creams The next step is the anti-aging creams and eye creams. These should be applied after the serums as they are the next in line in regards to thickness. When applying creams, pump the product into fingertips and dab onto skin in multiple areas. Then return to those areas and rub the cream in. When applying around the eyes, ensure you go under the eyebrows to the upper lid as well as under the eyes. The product is meant for the orbital region. Of course, do not apply product into eyeball. The best eye cream is our ALASTIN Restorative Eye Complex. Helps with dark circles, fine lines, wrinkles and laxity around the eye. Retinol Retinols are the classic anti-aging product and are used to help increase cellular turnover and exfoliation. Retinols can only be used in the evening and it is advised to titrate up the daily usage. Retinols can be drying and cause redness, however, the best retinol is ALASTIN Renewing Retinol which has been shown to be gentle on the skin. Therefore, most of our patients can use this retinol every night. Moisturizer Using a moisturizer is good for every patient, even those with oily skin. But, this comes with a caveat. Using a medical-grade moisturizer is one that provides more results than oil. The best moisturizer is ALASTIN Ultra Nourishing Moisturizer because it isn’t greasy like the typical moisturizer and it has its Tri-Hex Technology that clears out old collagen and elastin and then restores new collagen and elastin. It is not going to clog your pores and it is going to go on silky smooth, with no residue. SPF We can’t speak more about SPF and sunscreen. If there was only one anti-aging cream you were going to use, SPF would be the recommended on. It protects your skin from further damage. Honestly, most of the damage on your skin is from the sun, so SPF is imperative. This product is only used in the morning, after all your other products have been applied. The best tinted SPF out there is ALASTIN Hydratint. It is a primer, sunscreen, and foundation ALL-IN-ONE. It doesn’t crease in your fine lines and wrinkles and never feels heavy. The best sunscreen and SPF is iS CLINICAL Eclipse SPF. It feels smooth on the skin and doesn’t leave sunscreen residue. We hope you found this helpful when applying your next skincare regimen. If you would like to schedule a complementary skincare consult. Recent Posts
Sculptra

Sculptra When you think of anti-aging, the first thing that usually pops up is collagen. Collagen supplements, drinks and any other form is widely available for you to purchase. But, does that type of collagen actually produce the results that you are looking for? Collagen Supplements When you drink or take collagen as a pill form, it is in the chemical compound of a full collagen molecule. However, as that collagen molecule goes through the digestive tract and process of breaking down so your body can use it, its broken into tiny chemical compounds that no longer represent the original collagen molecule. Think of the alphabet, the letters ABC. When you take a collagen supplement, you are originally taking the full ABC. However, as your body breaks it down and digests, you are then getting As and Bs and Cs, all broken apart. Your body no longer recognizes those As, Bs and Cs and ABC, it recognizes them individually. Therefore, you are not getting collagen, you are only absorbing collagen parts, which does not produce the same results as collagen. Other Collagen Stimulating Modalities Microneedling is another great way to produce collagen in the skin. It is done on the skins surface, and working more on the epidermis and mildly on the dermis. This is a great way to improve texture and skin tone, and does help a bit with laxity. It also will help improve those fine lines and wrinkles. It is one of our favorite facial treatments at AIYANA as it has medical-grade results with minimal downtime. Medical-grade skin care products that create a reaction of the skins cells are another great way to produce collagen. When you are looking for the best collagen producing skincare, look no further than ALASTIN. With it’s triHEX technology and its ability to clear out old collagen and then produce new collagen AND elastin, ALASTIN is the best. iS CLINICAL also provides botanical copper tri-peptide growth factors for a more plant based way to produce collagen. Sculptra Sculptra has been on the market for many years and has made a huge name for itself. It is one of the ONLY injectable on the market that inducing natural collagen production. It was first brought to the market to help with AIDS patients and the structure of the face. Now, it is used mainstream for anyone looking to improve their overall collagen production. It is the best way to produce your own collagen and to get you aging in reverse. After our 20s, we start to lose collagen and no longer make it ourselves. Each year, we are losing more than we can make and it starts to show. With Sculptra, the collagen that is produced will last 3-5 years. However, depending on when you start Sculptra, you may need to do some catch up. But, after a few sessions over a year, you will be making more collagen than you lose and you will start to age backwards! Imagine that, an actual injectable that can achieve the impossible. Sculptra can. It is also the only injectable that you actually buy, because it is yours to keep once you have it. With tox and fillers, you are constantly having to get touch ups as it metabolizes and disappears over time. Ready to up your anti-aging game? Sculptra is it. Recent Posts
5 Ways to Anti-Age the Eyes

5 Ways to Anti-Age the Eyes There are certain areas on the face that cannot go undetected when it comes to aging. The area around the eyes is one of those. Puffiness, dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles, or “bags” as they are lovingly called, can age an individual by more than 10 years. Plus, looking tired and exhausted all the time is not a look we are going for. That is why we have compiled the 5 way to reduce these pesky “bags” and to say goodbye to them forever. Hydration Your skin is made up of 70-75% water. It’s no wonder that keeping yourself hydrated will only make your skin look better. Water is a perfect way to do this. Drinking at least 8 glasses, or more, will help keep your skin in so many ways. There are so many benefits and one of them is that your skin plumps when it is hydrated. That means that your fines lines and wrinkles will be less visible, your lips will be plumper and your eyes will be less sunken. Its a win-win all around. You don’t have to only think of water when it comes to hydration. All of the food you consume has water in it as well and all count towards your daily goal. If you can’t stomach water, try sparkling water, infused or flavored. All will work when you are trying to achieve hydration. Seasonal Allergies? If you think you are suffering from seasonal allergies, taking an anti-histamine can help with your puffy eyes. This can be due to the reaction you are having to the allergens which causes this type of symptom. You may also experience red, itchy and watery eyes. Taking Benadryl, Claritin or Zyrtec can help with this. It is a good idea to avoid potential allergens when possible. You may also be having a reaction to certain skincare products, soaps and makeup. Ensure this is no the case by keeping a diary to keep track of any symptoms you may be having that are associated with products. Eliminate any that cause issues. Wear Sunscreen Protecting your skin from the sun and other elements can dramatically reduce the amount of fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots and aging. This may also increase or worsen the dark circles and puffiness under the eyes. Wearing a sunscreen that is 30 SPF or higher and broad spectrum, where it protects against the suns rays as well as the lights on our devices is highly advised. You can also stay out of the sun by wearing a hat when you are outdoors and exposed, sitting in the shade, wearing protective clothing and avoiding tanning beds. Skincare We’ve said it before, and we will say it again. There is nothing more you can do for your skin than a skincare routine that is twice a day, using medical-grade products. Why does that matter? When you are using over-the-counter skincare products you are wasting money. They will only take your skin as far as they can, and it ain’t that far. The moment you start using medical-grade, you will notice changes in the first 2 weeks. Give it 2 months and you will love the skin you’re in. When it comes to under the eyes, dark circles are a hard to treat area. That is where skincare is a must. Using an eye cream specifically designed to target that area will bring about healthy skin and help alleviate the dark circles, plus help with the skin texture at the same time. Injections and other procedures Botox, filler, microneedling and Natural Growth Factor Injections are great options for under the eye treatment. Botox and filler will provide desired results and having lasting effects. Botox does wear off in 3-4 months, filler can last up to 2 years. Microneedling takes about 3 -6 treatments per year to obtain the desired refreshed look. The results are worth it. By adding Botox to the under eye area in a fashion called microtox, it will soften the fine lines and decrease the puffiness for a more desirable outcome. Filler will add volume back where it was lost and help camouflage the fat pad that sometimes starts to migrate downward as we age. It was also fill in the lines created by the ligaments that start to pull down as well. Microneedling creates injury to the tissue which then forces the cells to turnover and rejuvenate, creating a healing process that improves the skin texture and the puffiness under the eye, increasing collage production. Both are worthwhile treatments that can help in that pesky area. See client above. Botox was applied to her under eyes to help improve puffiness and fine lines/wrinkles. Natural Growth Factor Injections will help with the under eye area by adding back in your very own growth factors to increase collage production. Just imagine, your own body healing those pesky under eye “bags.” It is another great option when you are looking to help anti-age those eyes. Ready to look refreshed and treat those under eyes? Therapeutic Treatments at AIYANA

Therapeutic Treatments at AIYANA Did you know that there are many therapeutic uses for Botox/Dysport neuromodulators? From migraines, to tension headaches, TMJ/TMD, and gummy smile, neuromodulators are not just for wrinkles. At AIYANA, we can help you with some of these ailments by utilizing neuromodulators correctly and with accuracy into the areas of concern.Let’s dive in. Migraines A main therapeutic use is for migraines. Botox/Dysport has been used by neurologists for years to help combat migraines when multiple treatment failures occur with traditional migraine medications. It is certainly something that is effective, and recommended for those who suffer for migraines. However, at AIYANA, due to the large number of units utilized for migraine treatment, it is best that you get it covered by your health insurance and therefore we do not offer it. Tension Headaches Botox/Dysport also helps with tension headaches, which is something we have been able to help our patients with. Usually those type of headaches occur in the front of the forehead, so adding Botox/Dysport to that area helps resolve those pesky headaches. It is extremely effective. TMJ/TMD Another therapeutic use is for TMJ/TMD. In the field of dentistry, TMD is an extremely difficult condition to treat. However, at AIYANA we can inject Botox/Dysport into the masseter which relaxes the muscle and does not allow the individual to clench their jaw as tight as normal. Coupled with headaches, and this is a great treatment for a client who suffers. Gummy Smile Another use that may be considered therapeutic or cosmetic is the gummy smile. When Botox/Dysport is injected into the Yonsei point, which is a small area of the lateral aspect of the nostril, on both sides, it can lower the lip and allow it to relax when the client smiles. This helps reduce the appearance of the gums and creates a lip that elevates just to the top of the teeth. This will prevent the client from have to get gum recession and also helps with the deepened nasolabial folds around the mouth. In the photos below, her gummy smile is reduced just by utilizing a little bit of Botox/Dysport. Her smile lines will also smooth out as she is no longer utilizing those pulling muscles around the mouth. There are so many uses for Botox/Dysport that the list seems endless. At AIYANA, we love this product and have seen so many clients benefit from its use. It truly makes such a difference when suffering from painful headaches to jaw clenching, but it also helps smooth the skin and provide a great anti-aging result. Recent Posts
5 Ways to Boost Collagen

5 Ways to Boost Collagen Collagen is a common protein found in the body. It is located in tendons, fat, and ligaments as well as other places in the body. It is important for bone structure and strength. When there is a healthy level of collagen int eh body, it presents with a youthful appearance. Another type of protein found in the body is elastin. It is found in arteries and lungs as it aids in contraction. Elastin has the ability to snap back into place and maintain its original shape. Elastin and collagen are both found in the skin. When your skin has adequate levels, it is stronger and therefore more youthful in appearance. One fascinating fact about collagen is its ability to have a domino effect in your body. The more collagen you have, the better able your body is to produce and maintain collage. Let’s dive in on how to boost collagen. Vitamin C Vitamin C is helps with the synthesis of hyaluronic acid, which is known for its ability to speed up recovery and relieve painful joints. It is also the main component of dermal fillers that are used at AIYANA. Hyaluronic acid can help boost collagen product. It s naturally found in our bodies, but it does decrease as we age. Eating foods with high levels of vitamin C and amino acids can increase hyaluronic acid and collage in the body. This in turn is beneficial for our skin. Foods high in Vitamin C include broccoli, kale, strawberries, red peppers, and oranges. Check out iS CLINICAL Super Serum Advance, with Vitamin C. Algae Algae is from marine plants and it has been popular in beauty routines. The reason is due to the skin damage caused by oxidation, which can cause cellular damage. Algae can prevent oxidation from the environmental pollution. This in turn will help with collagen and elastin production in the skin. Our Hydrojelly masks at AIYANA are made from algae and will aid in this process. Book a facial treatment today to find out why we love our Hydrojelly masks! Antioxidants Antioxidants help protect the body from free radicals which can damage the cells. The job of most antioxidants is to protect the collagen cells that are present, not necessarily boost the collagen production. There are many different types of antioxidants in nature, most can be found in healthy, vitamin rich foods. iS CLINICAL serums also have antioxidants present that can be directly applied to the skin. Retinol Retinol is a type of antioxidant found in the skin. It can be applied topically as a great anti-aging product that actually boost collagen production. Collagen can increase the lifespan of collagen as well as protect the collagen that is already formed from the free-radicals. ALASTIN Renewal Retinol is a perfect product to add to every skincare routine. LED Red Light Therapy Red light therapy has been shown to increase collagen production and have anti-aging effects. How Do You Know if Someone is a Professional? When it comes to aesthetics and your face, it might be best to leave it to those who know best. And, by know best, we mean are trained professionals in the field. The world of aesthetics is a myriad of estheticians, assistants, nurses, and medical professionals, and everyone else in between. We’ve always believed that knowledge in the field and continuously learning/educating and training will produce the best outcomes in this practice. What are the Treatments that Should be Done by a Licensed Professional? When answering this question, we look at the treatments that have the most risk involved. That includes Botox/dermal fillers, laser treatments, microneedling and chemical peels. Advanced Aestheticians can perform certain laser treatments, microneedling and chemical peels. Nurses can perform Botox/dermal fillers if they have been properly trained, through a training course. Medical Providers, such as MD, NP, PA can perform more invasive laster treatments and Botox/dermal fillers, as well as any of the above mentioned or other treatments. All in all, it is important to make sure you feel comfortable with your treatment and your provider. Being at ease and trusting those who are doing such procedures is paramount in your overall satisfaction. Just Because They Are a Professional… Human error is just that. Any human, no mater how trained or schooled with make errors. It’s just part of the process. But, the ones who do will also know how to fix their mistakes. This makes doing your research even more important and finding someone who is trained makes all the difference. In those training, they are also trained on what to do when things go wrong. All in all, scheduling a consult and discussing all of the above is important. You need to feel confident in your aesthetic professional, knowing that they have your best interest in mind and they are trained to do what they do. We always say, shop around for the best aesthetic injector, not the best price. It makes all the difference. Recent Posts
Anti-Aging & Men

Anti-Aging & Men At AIYANA, we love to treat our men, too. Signs of age in men are common and usually consist of scowl lines, lines around the eyes, or crows feet, enlarged pores, jowls, and an increase in oily skin. But, what about skincare, tone and texture? A lot of individuals, not just men, neglect that part of their health and when the 40s come along, it’s hard to catch up. Here are the details, just for men, to help with their anti-aging regimen and improve their skins health. Change Your Cleanser Game When it comes to cleansing your skin, a bar of soap might suffice for some men. It’s convenient, available and what you might be accustomed to. But, its not the best for your skin. I love what Dr. Colbert says about this topic. You wouldnt wash your favorite cashmere sweater in Tide detergent, would you? he asks. Think of your skin as a fabricitll age like cashmere or a pair of jeans. It gets beaten up, threads get thin, and you get holes in the knees. Its a living fabric. Cleanser is the first step to creating an effective anti-aging regimen. Rinsing your face with warm water, then lathering up the cleanser in your hands and then rubbing it on your face to cleanse the area. Rinse with warm water. Use a hand towel to dry. Acne prone skin would be better off dried with paper towels due to the bacteria that is present on hand towels when only washed every 1-2 weeks. Our favorite cleanser is ALASTIN Gentle Cleanser ($45). Serums, Moisturizers & Anti-Aging Creams Our love for serums runs deep and that may have something to do with iS CLINICALs revolutionary serums. When a serum for everyone that is tailored for your skincare needs. Every client at AIYANA is on a serum and it is something we feel passionate about. Here are a few of our favorites. Hydra-Cool Serum— with its ability to act as a moisturizer, in serum form, this one is for all dry skin types. It has a cooling sensation when applied and it leaves out the greasy moisturizer feel. Super Serum Advance+— When it comes to skincare, having a growth factor in your regimen is paramount. This serum not only brings a growth factor, but also has Vitamin C to help brighten the skin. Lastly, it is infused with botanicals and antioxidants to protect the skin from outside elements. Win-Win-Win. Pro-Heal Serum— Blemish prone or have areas of dry/red patches on your skin? This serum is for you. Plus it helps with healing any skin concerns, such as sunburns and rosacea. A great serum to have in your back pocket. Active Serum-– This is iS CLINICALs most loved product and serum, ranked #2 serum in the world. This serum is one that can be used as a spot treatment or an all over facial serum, with anti-aging properties to help with fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes, and dry skin. Plus, it feels like a little facial in a bottle. Our favorite. Our must-have anti-aging cream is ALASTIN Restorative Skin Complex, with its Tri-Hex Technology that is formulated to go into the cells of the skin and clean out the old collagen and elastin. After that process is complete, it this targets the cells to product more collagen and elastin. If there is 1 anti-aging product that is a must-have for our clients this is IT. You will notice improvement in the texture and tone of your skin within 2 weeks. It’s that incredible. Consider Anti-Aging Treatments When it comes to fine lines and wrinkles, non-invasive treatment at the spa are going to give you the quickest results, almost immediate. Don’t be afraid of getting a little Botox to reverse that permanent scowl line that you’ve been noticing more and more lately. Botox is a great treatment that will take care of those pesky lines and after a few treatments, they will disappear forever. What seems to be most concerning for men is the fear of anyone knowing that they actually have gotten Botox treatments. No one will know, unless you want to tell them. At AIYANA, we firmly believe in enhancing your natural contours, not changing your face. Plus, Botox is for softening lines, NOT adding volume. There will not be any distortion of your face, and our goal is to keep the masculine features you already possess. Plus, keeping movement in your face is the most natural way to approach Botox in men and that is always our goal. Other treatments to consider are facials, chemical peels, microneedling and even filler. But, let’s take it one step at a time. Schedule your consult today and we can come up with a customized anti-aging regimen just for you. Recent Posts
